6 of Phuket’s Best Golf Courses
These top golf courses boast of high-quality standards and enough challenging features for both beginners and advanced players alike. A few of these world-class courses also come with golf pros who can guide players through their strengths and weaknesses, as well as golf carts to transport those who face challenges walking through the fairways. One thing is for sure, however: these golf courses combine game play with amazing views for a unique experience.
1. Blue Canyon Country Club
The Blue Canyon Country Club in Mai Khao is a championship category course, recognized as being the best in Asia and with awards to prove it. Nestled in a natural setting, the course has welcomed heads of state as well as professional golfters onto its fairways. Each of the 18 holes at Blue Canyon were designed for pro-level challenges, from sand traps to water features. Other luxurious facilities at the club include the comfortable clubhouse and a relaxing spa.
2. Laguna Phuket Golf Club
Previously known as the Banyan Tree Golf Club, it has had a makeover and its name was also changed. All the greens have been reconstructed and remodeled, the previously once-flat fairways now feature strategic hazards and more trees have been planted to complement the appearance of the woodland. This makeover has seen the course featured in surveys as being among the 10 best courses in Thailand.
3. Red Mountain Golf Club
Launched in 2007 in Phuket’s Kathu district, Red Mountain Golf Club rests on what was previously a tin mine just next to its sister golf course Loch Palm Golf Club, both of which have turned out to be one of the popular golf courses in Phuket. Red mountain derived its name from the mesa design, due to its landscape appearance, composed of red soil, granites, hills and green environment.

4. Loch Palm Golf Club
Loch Palm greens are taken care of at playable speeds which move at a relaxing pace, thus luring golfers to return. Furthermore, there are a number of testing carries over water and close encounters with jungles that canto be penetrated. Nestled nicely on a cordon of hills, the take-off of most shots can easily be traced across the air over the background of the forest.
5. Aquella Golf
What was once known as Thai Muang Beach Golf in Phang Nga is now the Aquella, which offers stunning ocean views including a picturesque view of the Andaman Sea at the 11th hole. This 18-hole golf course also has a driving range for players who want to practice their swing. Aquella Golf is part of a resort property that not only includes a spa and clubhouse but also facilities for tennis.
6. Mission Hills Golf Club
The splendid Mission Hills Golf Club in Pa Klok might be near the sea, but it showcases Phuket’s character very clearly. The Jack Nicklaus-styled course has incorporated very distinguishing quirks, similar to greens that give two similar finishes on the whole 18. The isle grass adds amazing colors as it thrives beautifully on the salty soil. For golf players who want to improve their game, the course also has a fully qualified PGA coach who can help them work through challenges.

Tips for Enjoying Golf in Phuket
The breathtaking sea views and pleasant breezes at Phuket’s golf courses are definitely a draw, but it doesn’t mean that Phuket is a year-round golfing destination. Guests who want to play golf in Phuket should know about the best seasons to come to the island for pleasant weather to be able to enjoy the game while still taking the island’s tropical climate into consideration.
Remember as well that each golf course has its own regulations for dress codes, including the appropriate shoes to wear on the course. Some golf courses do not recommend the use of spiked shoes so as not to ruin the well-manicured landscape, and clubhouses often carry course-appropriate clothing and sunscreen when needed.
Rules for followers and spectators must be followed as well. At Blue Canyon Golf, for example, groups must be no larger than 6 people per group, with no more than 2 non-playing followers. Many golf courses also require non-playing followers to stay inside the golf cart in order to not interfere with the game.
Finally, to make sure that your golfing plans are included in your trip to Phuket, you can stay at any of Phuket’s grandest villas and enlist the help of the Guest Experience Service team. The Guest Experience team can assist in planning your itinerary before you arrive in Phuket, which can include reservations as well as recommendations for the best courses based on your preferences.
