UAE’s leading airline, Emirates, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 13th June 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand. The main aim of the agreement is to use the airline’s excellent worldwide network to increase the inbound arrivals of tourists to Thailand. The MoU focuses on growing the major tourism markets such as Luxury Tourism.
Under the agreement, the tourism authority and the airline will create a variety of joint promotions that will focus on increasing Thailand’s visibility and tourism. These shared developments will benefit may tourism sectors that include; Honeymoons and Weddings, Sports Tourism, Green Tourism, and Luxury Tourism. The MoU also states that a new route between Dubai and Thailand’s major luxury destinations may be launched.
The MoU was signed by Mrs. Rerngronasa Juthaporn, who is the Deputy Governor in charge of International Marketing at the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and Emirates Airline’s Senior Vice President of Operation Mr. Badr Abbas at an event in Bangkok. Also present were the Governor and Director of Thailand’s Tourism Authority, and plenty of other top officials. During the signing event, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand Mr. Supasorn said that the collaboration will increase the number of flights to Thailand, which will boost the arrival of tourists from Africa, the Middle East, America, and Europe. The Governor was also confident that the agreement will help Thailand to penetrate the key markets throughout the world.
Mrs. Rerngronasa, the Deputy Governor, said that the Tourism Authority of Thailand will gain access to the niche markets by using the Airline’s vast worldwide network. She also stressed the fact that the agreement will focus on creating joint promotions and strategies that will position Thailand as a “Quality Tourist Destination. “Through the MoU, the image of Thailand will be boosted by marketing it as a unique destination that offers perfect quality for value. This will create an excellent balance between the environmental and social impact, and tourism growth by focusing on balancing between the environment, revenue, and community, while also offering value-added experiences.
During the year 2015, over 700, 000 passengers boarded the Emirates Airline while traveling to Thailand. Approximately 580, 000 of these passengers checked in to Bangkok while 120, 000 flew to Phuket. On the 1st of July, the Emirates Airline is looking forward to adding a daily flight from Dubai to Bangkok. This daily flight will be the seventh between Dubai and Bangkok and will feature a Boeing airplane. This will boost the number of daily passenger travels while also asserting Thailand as a modern leisure and business destination.
